The first thing we have to do is understand stress and loneliness.

When we talk about stress, we typically think of work stress, school stress, relationship stress, or health stress. But stress can take many forms, and it is not always physical. There are also emotional components of stress, such as loneliness and isolation, which can be just as damaging. In fact, the World Health Organization defines loneliness as a key risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

Stress and loneliness are part of a much larger picture of burnout. Burnout is a term used to describe a state of exhaustion caused by prolonged stress. You may feel physically tired, emotionally drained, and mentally exhausted. This is a normal part of being human, but when stress becomes overwhelming, it can turn into burnout.

Burnout happens when stress becomes prolonged and causes emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion. This is a common occurrence in people who are overworked, underpaid, or overwhelmed by the number of tasks they have to complete.
